Western Forsyth Post 522 built an early edge on Tuesday, but Rowan County roared back to steal a 3-2 victory at Catawba College.
While Western Forsyth Post 522 led until the sixth inning, Rowan County worked its way back and tied the game on an RBI single by Taylor Gareynski.
Josh Clark was steady at the plate for Western Forsyth Post 522. Clark went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. Clark singled in the first inning and homered in the third inning.
Along side Josh Clark, Matt Rembielak lead Post 522 at the plate with 2 hits of his own.
Rowan County’s Nathan Fulbright was perfect at the dish, going 2-2. Fulbright singled in the second and fourth innings.
Jared Mathis kept Western Forsyth Post 522 off balance while he was on the rubber. Mathis held Western Forsyth Post 522 hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.
Even though Western Forsyth Post 522’s season came to end this evening, nothing but determination and heart should be used to describe this year’s ball club. With a losing season seeming inevitable, and a playoff appearance a mere glimpse of hope, Western Post 522 finished the regular season winning 4 of their last 5 and entering the Post Season as a 7th seed.
At some point, every team will make their final trip home. Western Forsyth Post 522 lasted to the final four teams remaining in their half of the bracket. It will be from this experience that Post 522 will begin to build for the 2012 season.
