Western Forsyth Post 522 outhits Mocksville in a 6-3 shorten game defeat

Mother Nature made the final decision of when the game will be finished last night at Rich Park in Mocksville NC. Shortly before 9:00pm, the wind picked up and rain began coming down making the first round Area III playoff game between Western Forsyth Post 522 and Mocksville Post 54 a final.
Western Forsyth Post 522 won the hit battle 11-7 on Friday, but couldn't push enough runs across to get the win, instead losing 6-3 in seven innings to Mocksville at Mocksville.
Javon Phillips racked up two RBIs on two hits for Mocksville. Phillips doubled in the second inning and singled in the fifth inning.
Brett Morgan was strong on the mound, as he threw strikes on 69 of his 106 pitches. Morgan collected seven strike outs and walked three for Western Forsyth Post 522.
Mocksville never surrendered the lead after the second inning, scoring five runs on two doubles and an RBI single by Caleb Brawley.
After pushing across two runs in the top of the third, Western Forsyth Post 522 faced just a 5-2 deficit. An RBI double by Andrew Key and a sacrifice fly by Josh Clark fueled Western Forsyth Post 522's comeback. The Western Forsyth Post 522 threat came to an end when D.J. Webb finally got Robert Deluca to single.
One run in the top of the sixth helped Western Forsyth Post 522 close its deficit to 5-3. An RBI single by Dylan Pfingst set off a Western Forsyth Post 522 rally. Kyle Willard grounded out to end the Western Forsyth Post 522 threat.
Western Forsyth Post 522 will play tomorrow, Sunday July 9th 2011, in the first round of the elimination bracket against Burlington-Grahm or Wilkes County, and Mocksville Post 54 also continues sunday in the second round of the winners bracket against Burlington-Grahm or Wilkes County.
